Please Note:

Our Impact Calculator shows the substantial variety of achievements that can be realized with your donation. All costs are best estimates based on external evaluators and data reported by recommended charities. While such calculations are complex and include uncertainty in variables and conclusions, we find their cost effectiveness is high compared with other investments. For instance, a 1995 Duke University study of more than 500 life-saving interventions in the United States found that the median cost of saving a life is US$2.2 million. Based on external evaluations, saving a life through our recommended nonprofits doesn’t extend beyond US$5,500.

This impact calculator, when used with the detailed information provided about our recommended charities, can provide tangible examples of just how much good you can do.

It is important to note that these impact estimates could be statistical inferences from impact evaluations and studies, rather than direct impact data collected by the nonprofits we recommend. This means that the estimates you see in the calculator could be generalizations derived from systematic reviews, expert reports, or specific studies that provide insights into the likely effectiveness of similar interventions. While not precise, these numbers give us confidence in the transformative potential of your donations.

The estimated impact figures are derived from statistical models and external research. While donations support effective interventions, recipient organizations may reallocate funds based on strategic priorities.
