PHC/Sanku is immediately accelerating their Refugee-feeding program.
Based on the success that PHC/Sanku has demonstrated in the Kenyan Kakuma Refugee Camp – School Feeding Program, PHC/Sanku will immediately accelerate its refugee-feeding program by establishing an initiative within Sanku focusing exclusively on fortifying the meals of refugees and asylum seekers throughout the world.
PHC/Sanku’s refugee-feeding initiative aims to assist 10 million refugees across 18 countries throughout East and Central Africa, equipping 116 camps with the tools and training to improve the lives of those that have sadly lost nearly everything.
PHC/Sanku has developed the only viable fortifying technology to improve the foods in these camps with the necessary vitamins and minerals. For under $3,000 per unit, a Sanku fortifying device can serve more than 30,000 people with nutritious flour, providing each person with the necessary nutritious food for basic health. In partnership with The World Food Program and Technoserve, PHC/Sanku currently delivers important nutritious flour needed for 70,000 refugee children in Kenya.
Today an unprecedented sixty-five million people have been displaced, and the problem worsens as an additional 34,000 people flee their homes to escape conflict or persecution every day. It is the worst humanitarian crisis since the Second World War.
A third of these families are warehoused in refugee camps while they await the possible relocation to a safe and welcoming country—sadly, the average stay in a refugee camp is seventeen years.
For those families unable to find asylum in welcoming countries, most are dependent on food rations for their survival. Unfortunately, those rations generally do not provide the important nutrients necessary for a healthy life.PHC is immediately accelerating their Sanku small-scale fortification initiative with a dedicated Refugee-feeding program.

Recognising that up to 90% of people living in developing countries eat from small-scale flourmills, largely due to lack of access to large scale fortification programs addressing micronutrient malnutrition, PHC took the responsibility to literally build a solution. PHC created the Sanku Fortification initiative, and got to work on specifically designing a small-scale fortification technology solution to address the major gap in nutrition programming, naming this technology – The Sanku Dosifier. For under $3000 per unit, the dosifier attaches to small rural maize mills and can fortify the flour for more than 30,000 people, making the solution incredibly economic and scalable. PHC/Sanku’s goal is to reach 100 million people by 2025 through this small-scale initiative.
We can all agree that displaced people have a right to basic nutrition. Let us come together in agreement that families forced to leave their homes to live indefinitely in tents, are entitled to a healthy meal.
